J(ohnston) W. KERR (1836-1921)
This picture came to me by way of my great-great-grandmother, Norinda Margaret Kerr Crispen. Written on the back is simply: J W Kerr, Franklin, Penna. For months I despaired of finding a name to go with the initials. I knew that finding his name was my only hope of finding a Kerr needle in a haystack in Pennsylvania. Thanks to the USGenWeb volunteers, and Gene Gallagher, who is transcribing records of the 142d Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, I now have the missing name and much more.
